How about a hint of sunshine on this cold winter day? This açaí caipirinha is bright and sunny, and a perfect wintertime pick-me-up!
By the way – this delicious combo is inspired by a tasty açaí sauce included in my holiday box from Try The World! More on that later…
This is my take on a Brazilian caipirinha – a zingy cocktail made with cachaça, lime and sugar. I added a swirl of açaí syrup, and a splash of soda water for some extra festiveness. Yumm!
Muddle together ~
- 1/2 lime, cut into wedges
- 1/2 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon açaí sauce or puree (look for this in better groceries or on the TryTheWorld.com website)
- 1 1/2 ounce (or more) cachaça (A Brazilian liquor made from sugarcane. Although the flavor is different, rum would make a good substitute.)
Shake everything together with some ice until it’s frosty cold.
Meanwhile, take a slice of lime and run it around the rim of a martini glass, then dip the glass in sugar to get a beautiful, sugared rim.
Strain your açaí caipirinha into the martini glass, or alternately, pour it over ice.
If you like, top it with sparkling water for extra fun!
